Water where it shouldn't be doesn't keep office hours. If you've got a burst pipe, sewage coming up through the gully outside, or no hot water and a house full of kids, ring us. You'll get Paul, not a call centre.

You'll also get an honest answer on whether it can wait until morning. Sometimes it can, and you can go back to bed. Sometimes it can't, and then we move.

Short answer

Monarch Civil & Plumbing is a licensed emergency plumber based in Austral, covering Liverpool, the Macarthur region and the Liverpool to Fairfield corridor 24 hours a day. We attend burst pipes, blocked and overflowing drains, hot water failures and leaks, and we tell you the price before we start. Our rate is the same after hours as it is during the day, and we'll still tell you honestly if it can wait till morning.

What counts as a plumbing emergency

Call straight away for a burst or split pipe you can't isolate, sewage overflowing from the gully or a toilet, no water at all, a hot water tank leaking hard, or water coming through a ceiling near lights or power.

If you smell gas, leave the house, ring your gas network's fault line and 000 if it's strong. That comes before any plumber.

A dripping tap, a slow drain or a toilet that runs after flushing is not an emergency. Turn the isolation tap off and book us for daytime. You'll pay less and we'll bring the right part.

What to do while we're on the way

Turn the water off at the meter. On most South West Sydney blocks it's in a plastic lid box near the front boundary, and the tap turns clockwise. If the burst is on the hot side, turn off the isolation tap on the cold inlet to your hot water system as well.

Switch off power to any room where water is near fittings. Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pipes. Take photos for your insurer before you start mopping.

Our burst pipe first-10-minutes guide walks through it step by step.

What we bring to an after-hours call

Jet blasting gear and a CCTV drain camera for blocked sewers and stormwater, the common parts to get a hot water system running or safely isolated, and the fittings to repair burst copper, PVC or flexi hoses on the spot.

If a sewer has collapsed and needs digging up, our own mini excavator is on the trailer rather than on a hire-company waiting list: see sewer & stormwater.

Emergency plumber cost, honestly

After-hours and public-holiday work costs more than daytime with most plumbers. Our rate stays the same, day or night, and there is no call-out fee. Sydney 2026 price guides put emergency work at roughly 50 to 100% above standard rates, with an after-hours visit plus one to two hours' work commonly landing between $400 and $900 all up.

There is no call-out fee. We quote the repair on inspection before any work starts. If the fix can safely wait for a daytime booking, we'll say so.

From recent jobs

Emergency plumber Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Camden

Paul answers the phone himself, tells you how long he will be, and tells you honestly if it can wait till morning. If you have no hot water, run through the five checks in our guide while we are on the way; if the tank has failed, hot water repairs and replacement is a same-day job where we can.

Emergency plumber: questions we get asked

Do you really answer the phone at night?

Yes. Emergency calls go to Paul's mobile. If we're already on a job you'll get a callback within minutes and an honest arrival time, not a hold queue.

Which suburbs do you cover for emergencies?

Austral and everything within about 20 km: Liverpool, Casula, Prestons, Hoxton Park, Green Valley, Cabramatta and Fairfield in the north-east; Leppington, Edmondson Park, Ingleburn, Oran Park, Gregory Hills, Narellan, Camden, Mount Annan and Campbelltown in the Macarthur region.

How much does an emergency plumber cost?

Across Sydney, expect 50 to 100% more than a daytime rate: 2026 price guides put a typical after-hours visit with one to two hours of work at $400 to $900. Our rate is the same after hours as during the day and there is no call-out fee; we quote before starting and will still tell you if the job can safely wait until morning.

Can you turn the water off for me if I can't find the meter?

Yes, that's the first thing we do on arrival. Meanwhile, look for a plastic or concrete lid box near the front fence line, usually on the side closest to the street's water main.

Do you handle gas emergencies?

If you smell gas, get everyone outside and ring your gas distributor's fault line (it's on your gas bill) and 000 if the smell is strong. Once the supply is made safe we can attend for related plumbing and hot water work.
