01. Conduit vs Direct-Buried

Conduit Pathway Installation

Many NBN contractors default to direct-buried cable because it's quicker to install. Monarch Civil & Plumbing supplies and installs proper conduit instead, from the property to the nearest pit. It's a small difference on install day that matters a lot later.

Often the Default

Direct-Buried Cable

  • Cable goes straight into the ground, unprotected
  • Any future repair or upgrade means digging up the yard again
  • More exposed to damage from later digging or landscaping

Monarch Approach

Conduit Pathway

  • Cable runs inside a protective conduit, property to nearest pit
  • Future cable pulls, repairs or upgrades don't need re-digging
  • Better protected and easier to locate down the track

Ask for conduit when you book. Get an online quote or get in touch.

02. Service Strikes

Lead-In Service Strike Repairs (FTTN, FTTC, FTTP & HFC)

A service strike happens when excavation work damages the lead-in cable, the individual connection running from the local pit into a property, not the shared main network. Monarch Civil & Plumbing repairs lead-in strikes, pit to property, across every NBN technology: FTTN (Fibre to the Node), FTTC (Fibre to the Curb), FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) and HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial). Main network strikes sit outside this scope.

03. Relocations

04. Asbestos

Licensed Asbestos Removal

Older civil and plumbing infrastructure can involve asbestos-containing materials. Monarch Civil & Plumbing holds a licensed asbestos removal qualification, so excavation and construction work can proceed safely and legally.

05. Trusted Contractor

Contracted to Ventia & Service Stream

Monarch Civil & Plumbing is a current NBN contractor to Ventia and Service Stream, backed by more than 13 years of trade experience including time as a Sydney Water plumber. Every excavation follows a Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) search, formerly known as Dial Before You Dig, before work begins.

Common Questions

Do you install conduit, or just direct-buried cable?

Both, but conduit is worth asking for. Direct-buried cable is the quicker, more common default, while Monarch Civil & Plumbing can supply and install proper conduit from the property to the nearest pit instead, so any future cable pull or repair doesn't mean digging up the yard again.

What's the difference between FTTN, FTTC, FTTP and HFC?

They're the four main NBN connection technologies. FTTN runs fibre to a street cabinet and copper the rest of the way; FTTC brings fibre closer, to a curb-side unit; FTTP runs fibre all the way to the premises; HFC uses the existing pay-TV cable network. Monarch Civil & Plumbing repairs lead-in service strikes, pit to property, across all four.

What is a service strike?

It's damage to the lead-in cable, the individual connection from the local pit to a property, usually caused during digging or excavation. This covers the lead-in only, not the shared main network.

Do you work directly for NBN Co?

Monarch Civil & Plumbing is contracted to Ventia and Service Stream, both NBN delivery partners, for construction and maintenance work.
